You’ve probably noticed work being done on the island over the past few months. Not only are we refreshing the plants on the island, but we have just hired a new landscape contractor, who will be laying pine straw bedding soon. Also, the spotlight for the sign is out. Some background information for you: The light went out back in January. We replaced the fixture and buried new wire and conduit from the power panel to fixture. No help. We did a troubleshooting of the power panel – it was dead. After contacting Gulf Power, their technician determined a bad wire feed from ground transformer to the power panel. Also, it was discovered that the wire was not Gulf Power’s, but an old self-help project that was done incorrectly (probably 30 years ago).
The bottom line: A new underground wire and conduit is needed, to be run from the ground transformer in front of the first home on the left inside the entrance, under the street, and to the power panel in the island. The RBOA Board approved the project and expenditure, and Gulf Power was contacted. We should see activity soon, then we’re back up-and-running.
